Theology Tidbits: The Lord Who Became Savior

Those who teach that we need only receive Christ as Savior and not as Lord are in great doctrinal error, and overlook the obvious.

It was Christ the Lord, the Ruler of the universe, who died for our sins, who became the Savior of the world. Therefore, it’s Christ the Lord, the King, that we trust as our Savior. His very title requires that we surrender to His authority when we come to Him as Savior.

When we come to Christ in faith, we come to Him as He is. He is both Lord and Savior. Therefore, we cannot separate Lord from Savior. We can’t simply divide Him, and choose which part we want to follow.
